Norwegian striker Erling Haaland scored a goal for Manchester City in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the fifth round of the Premier League, marking his 100th goal with the club, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo's historic record.
Manchester City, the reigning champions for the past four seasons, hosted Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, with around 50,000 fans in attendance for the top clash of the fifth round, officiated by English international referee Michael Oliver.
Haaland opened the scoring in the 9th minute, receiving a smart pass from Brazilian teammate Savinho, leaving him one-on-one with Spanish goalkeeper David Raya. Haaland calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.
Haaland hits 100 goals, matching Ronaldo's feat
Haaland became the fastest player to reach 100 goals with a single team in the history of Europe's top five leagues, achieving this milestone in just 105 matches. This equals the legendary record set by Ronaldo during his time at Real Madrid.
With his goal against Arsenal, Haaland also became the quickest player to reach 10 goals in Premier League history, doing so in only five rounds. Since joining Manchester City, the young Scandinavian striker has consistently been breaking records.
In the previous round, Haaland scored twice in City's 2-0 victory over Brentford, setting a new record by becoming the first player in Premier League history to score nine goals in the opening four rounds.
In the second and third rounds, he achieved consecutive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham, becoming the first player ever to score two hat-tricks in the first three rounds of a Premier League season.
In total, Haaland now has 104 goal contributions for Manchester City in all competitions, with 100 goals and 14 assists, since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 for 60 million euros.
In the current season, the player has 10 goals from 5 matches in the English Premier League, as shown in the table below.
