Erling Haaland escapes suspension
The Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has escaped a suspension in the English Premier League after Sunday's match against Tottenham.
British reports said on Monday that Haaland was threatened with suspension due to his inappropriate behavior toward referee Simon Hooper, who was officiating the match between Manchester City and Tottenham, which ended in a 3-3 draw.
The match witnessed a controversial arbitral decision to stop City winger Jack Grealish alone in order to call a foul on his colleague Erling Haaland and not provide the opportunity.
The Citizens players, led by Haaland, strongly protested the referee's decision, which prevented a very dangerous opportunity in the final minutes with the score 3-3.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," the English Federation decided after the incident was investigated that Haaland's behavior did not deserve to be charged individually.
The English Association contented itself with a general accusation against Manchester City of violating the Premier League rule, which means that Haaland will not be subject to suspension due to the lack of a direct accusation against him.
Manchester City occupies third place on the Premier League table with 30 points, three points behind leaders Arsenal and one point behind runner-up Liverpool.
