Pep Guardiola has a crucial decision to make ahead of this week's Champions League fixture with Real Madrid, with an option of two goalkeepers who could possibly start on Tuesday.

Brazilian keeper, Ederson found himself subject to injury during Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the beginning of last month and has been out sidelined since, but he has returned to the City squad and is now ready to make a comeback.

During Ederson's absence, Stefan Ortega Moreno filled in and has made an impactful impression. In four games and half an hour or so of the Liverpool encounter, only conceded three goals; keeping clean sheets against Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The all-important choice is down to Pep Guardiola, who has said he doesn't know who will play, stating "I have to think about it because Eddy comes from being injured, he feels good but has lack of rhythm. I have to decide. We are really pleased with Stefan, he is an exceptional keeper."

Pep's confusion on the subject doesn't come as a surprise, when considering that Ederson has been unavailable for some time now and has a lack of playing time, though, the downside of him not being selected would be down to his experience in these big games.

While Ederson's statistics haven't been incredible in the Champions League this season, keeping one clean sheet and conceding nine goals. But despite this, his strength and capability on the big stage can be trusted highly, just taking his performance from last season into account, especially against Inter Milan

As for Stefan Ortega, he doesn't have the same experience Ederson does, and while the performances he has shown during these few weeks have been very commendable, the responsibilities that will come from City's next opponent will be at another level.

Despite that, Ortega shouldn't be underestimated, his passion and drive to give his best display on such a massive occasion, which could be the push to motivate him.

There are positives and negatives to both scenarios, but overall, both Ederson and Ortega's presence will be effective.

Pep will likely expand his thoughts during his press conference, or supporters will just have to wait to see which of their keepers will be in the starting line-up.

This comes alongside the injuries that could prevent Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake from starting on Tuesday. The last time pep spoke on the situation, he said they weren't ready for Crystal Palace, which comes as a worry for many.
