Phil Foden, John Stones and Kyle Walker are all training for their last game of the Euros group stage with national team England, and after a rather deflating start to their campaign, Manchester City player Chloe Kelly has shared some words of wisdom.
The three Man City names have taken part in two of England's games, with the third set to take place on Tuesday. The three lions started off with a 1-0 win over Serbia due to a goal from Jude Bellingham and then played Denmark, as both sides settled for a point each after a 1-1 draw.
Many are not impressed with the performances and even results so far produced by England. Despite having four points to their name, their display in a group which doesn't contain the toughest of opponents in the competition has been rather underwhelming.
The group phase is set to conclude with England taking on Slovenia, who have two points after finishing both their games with a score of 1-1. If England were to win this encounter, then they would win their group, but if they lose to Slovenia and Denmark win their game, then they could be looking at a third-place finish, which obviously still could keep them in the Euros but it would still be seen as noticeable failure from them.
All England realistically need to do is get one point, taking them to a total of five and even if Denmark do win their meeting, they will qualify for the next round, but it would be a situation of who tops the group and who comes second.
Someone who knows the European Championships really well is Man City women's player Chloe Kelly. The Lionesse was a part of the England side that made it to the final of the Euros against Germany back in 2022, and it was Kelly's very late and last-minute extra-time goal that crowned England champions of the Euros.
Chloe shared some words of advice for England going forward in the competition,
"In club football, you go to training the next day and you're on again but in tournament football, you spend the whole week together. For me, it was about every moment because it goes so quickly.
It's all about living in the moment and not getting too carried away with the outside world, enjoy being in the camp and around the team. Off the pitch was so special for us which allowed us to perform on it."
"We got to go down to the River Thames on the boats which is how we spent our time off the pitch and playing volleyball. That bond is so nice because it becomes your second family while you're in camp."
A beautiful way that Kelly describes the biggest reason for their Euros accomplishment, really putting an emphasis on teamwork and just how important that bond between the players is when trying to achieve something as historic as what the Lionesses did.
After already taking the Women's team to glory, Chloe Kelly will hope the same comes for the Men's team too, as will the three Cityzens who will be dreaming of returning back to the club with the same medal that Kelly did.
