The UEFA Champions League returned on Tuesday evening with six fixtures to showcase the competition's newly formatted League phase.

Manchester City get their journey started off against Inter Milan, who they previously played in the 2023 final which saw the Cityzens win the desired trophy, and this time around Man City will hope to secure three points against the Italian side.

While far from an easy task for the Sky Blues, they will still be considered the heavy favourites going into the game.

With Man City's result yet to be seen, let's focus on the opening day of the Champions League and how it played out for the clubs who featured.

There have been goals galore to open up this season's Champions League campaign. The goals also mean points, which are now more important than ever as these teams are not now competing with three other teams but 35 in total.

Premier League rivals Liverpool looked to have gotten off to a bad start, going 1-0 down before the five-minute mark. However, the Reds turned it around and secured a 3-1 victory over the Milan side.

Current champions Real Madrid took their time against Stuttgart but eventually ended with a 3-1 victory, with new signings Kylian Mbappe and Endrick getting themselves goals along with Antonio Rudiger.

But the biggest talking point (and result) goes to Vincent Kompany's Bayern, who dismantled Dinamo Zagreb with 9 goals to two. England international Harry Kane made his mark in his team's unbelievable win, scoring four goals.

We now dive into Wednesday's round of games, with Manchester City vs Inter Milan coming as a must-watch fixture to start off both clubs' journey in this season's Champions League.
