Manchester City's midfielder Matheus Nunes has been the centre of celebrations lately as the player's 26th birthday arrived on Tuesday. However, a recent social media post from his Portugal teammate and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has shown that Nunes did not include the player in any celebrations.

Matheus Nunes joined Manchester City nearly one year ago from fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanders. He's made a total of 31 appearances to date, mostly being placed as a substitute on the bench.

Nunes turned 26 on Tuesday, promoting birthday wishes from Manchester City, teammate Josko Gvardiol and likes and comments on his Instagram post from other fellow players.

But one birthday wish came from Matheus's Portuguese teammate and club rival Bruno Fernandes, who wrote a sarcastic message sharing that he had not been invited to any celebrations, which Nunes reposted on his Instagram story.

What Bruno Fernandes wrote about Matheus Nunes

The Red Devil wrote, "Congratulations (Then tagged the Man City player), Hope you had a great day with your friends since you didn't invite me to sing you happy birthday."

It looks as if Bruno couldn't keep his disappointment hidden away as Nunes failed to invite the player to any celebrations.

But this should all be taken in light humour, as Fernandes does seem to be only teasing his international teammate, hence why Matheus reposted it on his own social media account.

Both Matheus Nunes and Bruno Fernades will be more occupied with club duties, as the Premier League has gotten underway during the last few weeks. The opening fixtures have had two different outcomes for the players, for Nunes, he has seen his club get off to a flying start after beating Chelsea 2-0 and Ipswich Town 4-1. However, for Fernandes and Man United, despite a 1-0 win on the opening day against Fulham, a 2-1 defeat took place last few weekend which was given to them by Brighton and Hove Albion.

Will Matheus Nunes be leaving Man City in the next few weeks?

While Bruno Fernandes remains a pivotal name for Manchester City's biggest rivals, the same can't be said for Matheus Nunes within the Man City squad, who has had recent reports surrounding him possibly leaving the club before the end of the summer transfer window.

Nothing has been confirmed, but news has suggested that La Liga side Atletico Madrid has shown interest in attaining Nunes for next season.

It has also been said that Man City could agree to a loan deal for the Portuguese player, especially after the return of beloved former midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

But, Matheus Nunes himself is believed not to be interested in a move away from the Cityzens and with only a little bit of time remaining before the transfer window, this comes as another element to why the player wouldn't desire a transfer or loan away.

Safe to say that Nunes has been having a rather eventful birthday this year.
