Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola is threatening to leave the club if his voiced demands aren't listened to.
Manchester City's Pep Guardiola has suggested that he would quit the club if his demands of having a smaller squad aren't followed through, with the manager expressing his disdain for having a large group of players.
After their 3-1 win over Bournemouth earlier in the week which saw the club rise back into the top five of the Premier League, Guardiola discussed how he prefers to have a smaller group of players, so he doesn't have to leave names out of the squad and make some players miss out on playing time.
Reported by Sky Sports News, he said, "I don't want to leave five or six players in the freezer. I will quit. I said to the club, I don't want that (bigger squad). I don't want to leave five or six players in the freezer, I don't want that. I will quit. Make a shorter squad, I will stay."
"It's impossible for my soul to tell my players in the tribune that they cannot play. As a manager, I cannot train 24 players and every time I select, I have to have four, five, six because they cannot play. This is not going to happen. I said to the club I don't want that."
Guardiola has made his thoughts clear, and if Manchester City go against his wishes, his time at the club could come to an abrupt end, which is safe to assume nobody wants to happen.
There is only one match remaining of the season for Manchester City, which will determine if they can secure a top-five position in the Premier League after an intense battle with multiple opponents, but then, the focus will be on the summer transfer window, where Guardiola will be expecting his concerns to be dealt with. If not, there could be a potential question mark surrounding his future.
