Manchester City were defeated by Liverpool 2-0 during the latest Premier League weekend, continuing their struggles to get themselves an advantage for the top four.
Manchester City came into their Premier League fixture off the back of a 3-1 (6-3) defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, which ended their run in Europe for this season.
While coming into this match, Liverpool would have been already heavily favoured to go and get the win, the Reds would have extra motivation to seal three points after Arsenal's 1-0 loss to west ham the day prior and are now 11 points ahead of second place.
Just like their first meeting in the Premier League this season, the match ended in a 2-0 win for Liverpool, with Manchester City unable to really put up a real threat throughout either game. While Omar Marmoush did find the back of the net on Sunday, disappointingly it was chalked off.
Now, while the Cityzens do remain on fourth place with 44 points, they are far from comfortable in this position as Newcastle United (44pts), Bournemouth (43pts), Chelsea (43pts) and Aston Villa (42pts) are right behind Manchester City and could overtake at any point.
Next, Man City will come face to face with a side that they have already lost twice to this season, as midweek Premier League football sees the Sky Blues take on Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola reflects on Man City's performance
"It's not good enough, but I recognise my team in the last two games in Premier League. Newcastle and today we were brilliant in both. Madrid was not good enough, but today the rhythm and solidarity from most of them playing in difficult positions, I approve of it and it was really good."
"Analysing the game today was really good. We lost so there's not much to say. It's not easy."
"So, so young team that are the future of this club. They face a team that could maybe win the Premier League, and we behave really, really good. It was a tight game."
"It will not happen if we are not good enough (qualifying for UCL). Not because of the lack of passion or desire. We saw it against Newcastle and today. I don't have any doubts about that.
"Newcastle, Aston Villa and others. There are four or five teams fighting. It will not be easy, but it is what it is. We will try. If it happens it's because we deserve it, if not because we were not good enough."
