Manchester City met Arsenal during the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, the 22nd of March, where they were 2-0 winners in a bid for the title.
In what was their first chance to obtain an honour in this campaign, both City and Arsenal had a big task to complete.
The Gunners, who were on course for a potential quadruple, have been stopped by their fellow Premier League competitors.
Manchester City's season has been almost a mixture: While they were in various competitions, they were eliminated in the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid and in the league have so far been unable to put any actual threat towards the Gunners, though their opportunity isn't over.
And they remain in the FA Cup, and will be encountering Liverpool in the next round on the 3rd of April.
The Carabao Cup, though crucial for each of the opponents, for the Cityzens, this came as a must win. It was Nico O'Riley who claimed two goals to give his team the victory.
Manager Pep Guardiola's relief was an element included in the triumph, knowing they will end this term with a title in their favour.
Alongside this, they put in an impressive performance to keep their rivals out, one they will have to bring in these months coming up.
This shows City are capable of pulling out big results against these kinds of sides. While they are a long way from how they should be, it's a step that should provide a confidence boost in their pursuit to getting to higher levels.
They now celebrate, and after returning from international break, they aim for results in the PL and the FA Cup.
Pep Guardiola on his side's win
"I still enjoy it. Today was a challenge and nobody gives us anything."
"We saw ourselves and our level against the best team. That is the proof. That's what we're about."
"Second half, I could not believe we could do that against Arsenal, but we did."
"Still, we are much better than last season, but not the team we should be. That requires time. Hopefully, next season and the end of this season we can do it."
Manchester City have seven league fixtures remaining, where the aim is to somehow get ahead the Gunners, who they still have a meeting left with.
And, if they defeat Liverpool, then they qualify for the semi-final of the FA Cup, giving them another match to compete in.
Overall, the maximum games left for Man City are 10, depending on the cup, and these will be very key if they want to get another trophy.
But, they can take joy knowing the Carabao Cup is theirs.
