Pep Guardiola has spoken about what Manchester City need ahead of next season, naming the most crucial position where recruitment is necessary.

Manchester City's Pep Guardiola recently discussed the changes the club must undergo to get back on track next season.

The Spaniard explained why he needs the biggest priority to be finding a suitable fullback, also expressing why Nico O'Riley isn't a long-term solution for this position.

"We will need a new full-back in the Summer, obviously. Nico O'Riley is helping, but he's not a left-back." Stated Guardiola in a recent press conference.

O'Riley has stepped up majorly for his side, attaining a role that isn't his natural one. But as Pep explained, it isn't Nico's role to keep going into next season.

Guardiola will be thinking ahead of all the potential changes the club will need to face, especially if they are to challenge for the Premier League title and if they are successful in securing so, the UEFA Champions League as well.

Right now, there are no further developments regarding who the player to take over for Nico O'Riley's temporary role will be, but some reports have emerged suggesting Man City could be eyeing a transfer for Tottenham's Destiny Udogie.

The Italian has been recently linked to joining the Sky Blues, however, his current contract with Spurs keeps him at the club for another five years.

Whether City will challenge for Udogie is yet to be seen, as the summer transfer window remains a little while away from opening.

We can expect some other names to potentially arise in Manchester City's quest to strengthen their backline, but for now, all the information we have is that Pep Guardiola is determined to see impactful arrivals in the summer to get the club back to their best for the 25/26 season.
