Pep Guardiola has given an injury update ahead of Manchester City's next Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Back from the international break, Manchester City face a big task in bid to get back to winning ways, with a game against Tottenham; who they recently fell short to 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.

Returning to the Premier League, Man City have some significant mountains to climb in order to remain prospects in the title race, their last two Premier League fixtures ended in 2-1 losses to Brighton and Bournemouth. They are now five points behind leaders Liverpool and must start earning three points again to keep up with their rivals, who seem to be having the best possible start to the new season and a new manager.

The game against Spurs will be a difficult one, but recently extended manager Pep Guardiola has shared some positive news regarding a few vital players ahead of the game.

Pep Guardiola on injured players

"John (Stones) trained good. Manuel (Aknji) trained good. Nathan (Ake) is coming back to training, so we didn't have any cent-backs and now we have three."

"Ruben (Dias) is out but hopefully back soon. Some players recover better." These 10 days some players recovered a little. I don't know if they are ready to play 90 minutes or play from the beginning but to see the training session and see their face was a really good boost for all of us.."

"Kovacic will be a while - three weeks or a month. more or less"

Despite the disappointing news surrounding Mateo Kovacic, the manager has still provided a good update regarding some other important names for this City squad.

With results not going in their favour recently, the Sky B;ues need to return to top form and with crucial names returning to the pitch, it should be a big element in what could be a turnaround for their season.
