Manchester City have announced that Norwegian international, Oscar Bobb has left the club as he joins Premier League side Fulham on a permanent deal.
He joins the list of recent Manchester City academy graduates, such as Cole Palmer and James McAtee, who have left the club to start a new chapter and develop their careers.
Bobb was linked to various clubs, both in England and outside England, such as Dortmund. It had been reported that the Norwegian has agreed on personal terms with Fulham, with him signing a five and a half year contract, keeping him at the club until 2031. The two clubs have agreed on a reported fee of £27 million as well as an attached 20% sell on clause with Manchester City maintaining the matching rights on future offers.
He joined Manchester City back in 2019, signing from Norwegian side Valerenga, and quickly became a popular name in the academy. He helped Man City win back to back U18s title in 2019/20 and 2020/21. He made his first appearance for the senior team back in the 2023/24 season, in a match against Fulham. He made 47 total appearances for the Cityzens, scoring three goals, most famously one at St. James' Park to complete a comeback against Newcastle in 2024.
Unfortunately, in August 2024, he suffered a serious leg injury that ruled him out for the majority of that season. He was touted to be the next big academy graduate to join Pep Guardiola's team, and join the likes of Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Nico O'Reilly; however, the injury hampered his progress. Oscar now starts a new chapter of his career at Fulham, away from Manchester City, and he aims to succeed there.
Oscar Bobb on leaving Manchester City:
“I leave with nothing but amazing memories, and I want to thank everyone for their help and guidance during my time.”
“I have been so lucky to be part of such a special football club and to have so many fantastic moments, which are experiences I will always cherish."
“I have also learnt so much – not just as a player but as a person too – and for that I’m so very grateful."
“Thank you to everyone – to Pep, all my incredible team mates and the fantastic City fans who have been so supportive to me."
“I wish nothing but the best for the club.”
