Manchester City’s women’s team have confirmed the arrival of Sam Coffey on a three-year deal.
Manchester City’s women have made their first signing of the winter transfer window, with US midfielder Sam Coffey becoming the newest member of the club.
Joining from Portland Thorns, Coffey leaves with more than 100 appearances and four goals in her assistance to the side. She’s also an impactful player for her international team, helping claim many victories, such as an Olympic gold medal.
The 27-year-old will now be attempting to guide her new side to trophies. Man City are currently in a positive placement in various contests, leading the way in the women’s Super League, chasing a potential final in the FA League Cup, and they also prepare to begin their FA Cup quest.
The squad so far have provided strength and determination, which has resulted in them having incredible form against opponents. Sam will be another threat they’ll be able to offer in these massive games that are ahead. She joins the likes of Grace Clinton, Laura Coombs, Yui Hasegawa, Sydney Lohmann, Laura Blindkilde Brown, and Aema Oyama as the options in midfield.
The club have announced that Coffey will be available for the game starting on the 1st of February, which will be the match against Chelsea in the league. A vital fixture that will be crucial for the title race.
Though, she could feature in one of the many fixtures before then. It remains to be seen when she makes her first start.
