Manchester City have announced the exit of Laia Aleixandri, as her journey with the Sky Blues has now come to an end.

Manchester City and Laia Aleixandri have confirmed that their partnership will no longer continue as the player's contract is set to expire in the upcoming summer and will not be renewed.

Aleixandri has become a crucial name for this club during her time with them, being an integral part of the City squad.

However, her time with the club has come to an end. Her next location is unknown at this moment, but it is safe to assume she won't be short of potential clubs with interest.

For City, they will be focusing on making critical changes to their team after an overall poor season, which saw them not only fail to win a single trophy but also, miss out on securing a European spot due to ending the Women's Super League on fourth place.

Laia Aleixandri on her exit

"I've enjoyed being a captain a lot. Being a captain for this club and for this team is a privilege, and I had the opportunity, I tried to do my best, of course."

"I think everyone has different leadership skills, and I was just trying to give my best for the team and give everything for this club and team."

"I'm sad because I'm leaving this club and team with no trophies, and that's something that is very painful, not just for me, but for the team."

"But I know it will come because I know the girls and I know it will come. I will be very happy for every achievement this team is going to have. They're super competitive, the club wants to be up there, so that's very positive."

"I'll be supporting the girls, I'll be wishing them the best. We'll see each other maybe in the future."
