Manchester City returned to Women's Super League action on the week, meeting Everton in a 1-1 draw.

Manchester City took on Everton in the latest Women's Super League weekend, aiming for a positive result after their disappointing loss to rivals Manchester United a few days prior in the FA Cup.

The WSL is the only competition left for Man City to participate in after their journeys in the Champions League and FA Cup all came to an end during the last few weeks.

Now, they only focus on the Women's Super League, where they must finish the season in the top three to return to Europe next season. They currently battle Arsenal and Man United for the crucial spot.

However, despite Kerstin Casparji's early goal to give City the lead, after the 30th minute, Everton's Karen Holmgaard found the equaliser to take both sides into the break 1-1.

The second half saw no further goals and the match ended with a goal apiece and also a point apiece.

Elsewhere, Manchester United drew 0-0 with West ham, while Arsenal played their fixture earlier in the week due to their Champions League game taking place on the weekend. They played Leicester City and won 5-1 to come within three points of Chelsea. However, the Blues have played one game less than the other three and will have a game in hand over their title challengers, Arsenal.

Nick Cushing on the draw

"We asked for a reaction after the Manchester United performance. I was proud of the players today, I think they came out quick and we scored early, but we just couldn't find the second to give us distance and conceded."

"We kept plugging away all the way through, and I'm proud of the way the players chased the three points today."

"That's what we asked for. We showed the spirit, the character this team has. The team is suffering at the moment."

"We do have young players who can show their quality and take their opportunity. I thought we did that today, we just didn't find the second goal after creating a lot of really good opportunities."
