Manchester City’s women's team are set to play their second fixture of the Women’s Super League, as they take on Brighton.

Manchester City women’s team are preparing to meet Brighton in their second WSL game of the new season.

The Sky Blues got off to a difficult start in their first fixture, where they were defeated 2-1 by rivals and WSL title holders Chelsea.

Now, they hope to get themselves a victory and three points to add to the table. For their opponents, Brighton, they have begun their WSL with a draw against Aston Villa, so they will be aiming to add more points to their name.

Elsewhere in the first match weekend of the Women's Super League, Everton claimed a 4-1 win over rivals Liverpool, Manchester United showed a strong display with a 4-0 victory over Leicester City, and Arsenal got the better of newly promoted side London City Lionesses.

With all of their biggest title rivals getting off to starts they’d have wanted, this will leave Manchester City even more determined to get the crucial win.

Manchester City did express that while the result is not what they wanted, they believe they need to remain positive, and now this game will be a big chance for them to throw away the Chelsea loss and look ahead.

While the Cityzens focus on getting the better of Brighton, other fixtures include Chelsea vs Aston Villa, Liverpool vs Leicester City, and Manchester United vs London City Lionesses.

Manchester City’s head coach Andree Jeglertz spoke ahead of the upcoming fixture, which takes place on Friday, the 12th at 19:30 (UK).

Andree Jeglertz on Manchester City’s Brighton task

“Brighton are a difficult team to scout. It’s an interesting team because they can ask questions of us. They also have good players, too.”

“Everything is about getting our first win on Friday and a good performance to take that next step.”
