Manchester City have been said to have agreed on a transfer deal with Palmerias for 18-year-old defender Vitor Reis.

Man City have been looking to strengthen their squad this January transfer window after multiple injuries have left their squad lacking depth, and affecting how their season has played out.

While the Cityzens have been linked to Omar Marmoush from Frankfurt, who has been making waves around the football world after producing a stellar season so far, and another player who has been on City's radar is Abdukodir Khusanov of Lens and has been reported that an agreement has been found for the defender to join.

Now, according to Manchester Evening News & Sky News, Man City have signed 18-year-old Vitor Reis of Palmerias. Despite Palmerias not wanting to let Reis go before their participation in the Club World Cup in June, it looks as if they have agreed for the player to leave.

Manchester City are clearly looking to boost their defence, which hasn't been ideal during this season, and with many of their main defenders unavailable from time to time due to injuries, bringing in these new two players will be a positive benefit for Pep Guardiola's side.

It's been reported that the transfer has come to 29 million for the Brazilian's arrival in Manchester.

Manager Pep Guardiola reflected on the team's current squad situation where the topic of having a majority of players at the age of or over 30, "We knew at the beginning of the season that the team, in a question of time, would have 10, 11 players more than 30 years old. But the same team that are more than 30 years old, five or six months ago, won a fourth Premier League in a row."

"We knew that sooner or later we should have done it, but what happened wasn't expected. The best way to do it is gradually, but after the injuries - wow - maybe we should have done it."

"But you never know in that position. I think the team is really good, and the squad is really good; otherwise, we cannot have achieved what we achieved last season."

With Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis now set to join Manchester City, it remains to be seen if Egypigan striker Omar Marmoush will also make his way over to the club.
