Manchester City performed well in September, having played five matches across three competitions. The Sky Blues won two of their three English Premier League matches, and they drew the remaining game.

In the UEFA Champions League, they started the 2025/2026 quest with a victory against a difficult Napoli side.

Finally, in the Carabao Cup, they defeated Huddersfield in the competition’s third round. In short, it was a month of good performances for the Mancunian club.

The Sky Blues will hope to remain on this fine run of form into October. This month, Manchester City will play six games across three competitions. They will participate in the Premier League, the Champions League, and the Carabao Cup.

Manchester City will begin with a Champions League game in Monaco. The game will be played on Wednesday, 1 October. It will be the first time Manchester City and Monaco have faced each other since their dramatic tie in the Champions League’s Round of 16 during the 2016/2017 season. The Sky Blues won the first match 5-3, but the Red and Whites won the second leg 3-1. Monaco would advance in the competition due to the away goal rule. It remains to be seen how things will go in the upcoming match in the Champions League’s Matchday two League Phase,

Following this Champions League match, the Sky Blues will shift their focus to the EPL. Manchester City will travel to London to face Brentford. The game will be played on Sunday, 5 October. The Bees have previously troubled the Sky Blues, where their most recent result was a 2-2 draw during the 2024/2025 EPL season. Brentford also won both EPL matches against Manchester City in the 2022/2023 season. With these results in mind, the Sky Blues will be sure not to underestimate their opponent.

Manchester City will then host their first home match in October with a game against Everton in the EPL. The fixture will be held on Saturday, 18 October, after the international break. The Sky Blues have boasted a strong record against the Toffees in recent seasons, where they have gone undefeated. Manchester City have lost only once to Everton under Pep Guardiola’s tenure, which occurred in January 2017 during the Catalan’s first season in charge.

Following this EPL match, the Sky Blues will return to Champions League action as they travel to Spain. The game will be played on Tuesday, 21 October. Manchester City will face Villarreal. It will be the first time the Sky Blues have faced the Yellow Submarine since the 2011/2012 Champions League season, where they were both placed in the same group during the group stage. Manchester City won both matches at that time.

Manchester City will then travel to Aston Villa for a Premier League game. The match will be held on Sunday, 26 October. Like Brentford, Aston Villa have also challenged City. They have won twice and lost twice against the Sky Blues in the last two seasons, meaning they will be a difficult opponent for the Sky Blues. Additionally, Manchester City have not won a match at Villa since the 2021/2022 season. Since then, Manchester City are winless, where they drew once and lost the remaining two games.

The Sky Blues will then conclude the month of October with an away game against Swansea in the Carabao Cup. The match will be played on Wednesday, 29 October. It will be the first time the Sky Blues have faced the Swans since the 2021/2022 FA Cup season.

Overall, Manchester City will have their work cut out for them in October. The Sky Blues will face difficult opponents across three competitions this month, knowing that they will need to win every match to keep pace with their EPL rivals while also hoping to keep pace with their opponents in the Champions League and the Carabao Cup. After last season’s performances, they will hope for better outcomes during the 2025/2026 season. Time will tell if their form in September will carry over into October.
