Manchester City’s women's team took on Everton over the weekend, where they claimed a 2-1 win to become leaders of the Women’s Super League.
Manchester City’s women met Everton in the Women’s Super League, and due to their 2-1 win, they have become the new leaders of the WSL.
Going into the match weekend, Chelsea were leading over their rivals and were looking to keep it that way, as with it being such a close race, every result is crucial. They had a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, therefore, Manchester City’s 2-1 win saw them make their way over to first and also now have one point over Chelsea.
Elsewhere, Manchester United were defeated 1-0 by Aston Villa, and Tottenham were defeated 4-2 by London; these results joined Chelsea and Arsenal’s draw, giving Manchester City quite the positive boost.
This result means Manchester City have won seven out of eight games in the Women’s Super League. This has been quite the attempt so far by the Cityzens, as they aim to claim WSL triumph.
But, they’ll need to remain gaining victories in order to remain as league leaders and also to keep up with their title rivals, as the Women’s Super League has a long way to go.

Andree Jeglertz on Manchester City’s win and going to the top of the league
“Of course, it’s nice and shows we are doing at least something right.”
“That gives you a great feeling that we are doing (well) and gives the team confidence that we’re pretty good, and we can win in different ways.”
“I think it is for all teams that if you’re winning and putting in a good performance in general, the confidence becomes stronger and belief becomes stronger.”
