Manchester City met Southampton on the weekend in the Premier League, where both sides settled for a 0-0 draw.
Manchester City went into their latest Premier League fixture with the task of claiming three vital points to keep a lead within the top five. However, they weren't able to find themselves a winner and ended the match in a 0-0 draw.
Despite the draw, the Cityzens are still in the top five with 65 points, which keeps them only two points ahead of sixth place with two more matches left to play.
Also in the top five standings after the weekend are Chelsea and Newcastle, while Arsenal's draw with winners Liverpool gives them a crucial point to stay in second place, however, it's Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest who fall to sixth and seventh.
While the one point does keep City in the position they need to be, a victory and securing three points would have been a stronger advantage to try to keep hold of as they prepare for the final two matches of the Premier League, which will be taking place in the next few weeks.
Pep Guardiola on the goalless draw
"The result, of course, it's a missed opportunity. We take that point still, it's in our hands. That point was really important."
"It happened. Now, prepare for the final (FA Cup), and less time Bournemouth and then Fulham."
"We have three games left: the FA Cup and two games in the Premier League, and I didn't expect anything different from one month ago in that we will need to fight until the end."
Next, Manchester will be participating in the final of the FA Cup this Saturday, the 17th, against Crystal Palace, where both sides will be looking to claim the special trophy.
After that, they will play Bournemouth and, to finish off the Premier League season, a game with Fulham.
