After winning the 25/26 WSL title, it should come as no surprise to see Man City Women's stars nominated for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. Bunny Shaw is amongst those nominations, the third time the star striker has received a nomination. Shaw was simply outstanding last season, winning the WSL Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals in 22 games for the club.
Shaw is amongst the favorites to win this year's award. She's already picked up the PFA Players' Player of the Year AND WSL Player of the Season AND FWA Player of the Year. Shaw is my choice to win soccer's most prestigious individual award to add to her ever-growing trophy cabinet.
Four other Man City players have also been nominated. Vivianne Miedema is on the list, alongside Yui Hasegawa, captain Alex Greenwood and Kerstin Casparij.

Recogition of City's achievements doesn't end there! Man City have been nominated in the Club of the Year category, alongside Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Lyon and Club America.
Andrée Jeglertz has been nominated for Coach of the Year, after leading his side to a domestic double last season. Superstar 'keeps Ayaka Yamashita has been nominated in the Goalkeeper of the Year category.
In the Men's awards, Erling Haaland has been nominated, as has Rodri who, of course, has since moved to Barcelona. New signing Ayyoub Bouaddi has received a nomination in the Young Talent of the Year category.
I think a couple of wins for Man City players should certainly be on the cards! The awards take place on 26th October, let's wait and see!
