Manchester City are not giving up on this Premier League title fight just yet. On Wednesday night, Pep Guardiola's side swatted aside Crystal Palace 3-0 at the Etihad, thanks to goals from Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoush and then Savinho. Thus, the Sky Blues will also need to beat Bournemouth next Tuesday to ensure the race goes to the final day.

This was Man City's ninth 3-0 win in the Premier League this season, making this the most common scoreline in the entire division, just ahead of 1-0 to Arsenal. Meantime, according to Bill Edgar of the Times, this is the most 3-0 wins any side has ever had in an English top division season. The previous record was held by Liverpool, who managed seven in the 1978/79 campaign. Back then, Bob Paisley's side picked up a third title in four seasons, while their points tally of 68 was a record at the time.

Well, after winning four successive Premier League titles, Man City are in danger of going back-to-back campaigns without a title for the first time under Guardiola.

The general feeling is that Manchester City are not as dominant or imperious as they once were, when the Citizens were picking up Premier League titles year after year, swatting everyone aside. So, how does their tally of victories by 3+ goals this season compare to previous campaigns?

The Sky Blues' tally of 11 victories by three or more goals this season is right up there among their highest totals under Guardiola. They could of course still add to this, unlikely to do so against a Bournemouth teams unbeaten in 16, but when Aston Villa visit the Etihad, four days after the Europa League Final in İstanbul, that could very much be on the table.

The most 3+ goal victories Guardiola's side have enjoyed in a campaign is 14 in 2019/20 as well as two seasons later, also enjoying 12 in the treble winning campaign, but only five last year. Thus, while this current team lacks the consistency of those that have come before, when they are on it, Man City are still able to turn it on. This could be ominous for a bang out of form Chelsea in Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley, as well as Arsenal ahead of the final week of the title race.
