Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was reportedly captivated by Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio during their recent encounter earlier this month.

The Spanish coach is currently facing one of the toughest periods of his career, with Manchester City struggling to secure wins. The team has managed just one victory in their last 12 matches across all competitions, including a Champions League loss to Thiago Motta's squad.

While Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie scored the decisive goals in the 2-0 defeat, it was Di Gregorio’s brilliance in goal that made the difference.

The former Monza shot-stopper delivered an exceptional performance, making numerous impressive saves. One standout moment came when Erling Haaland found himself in a one-on-one situation. The Norwegian attempted to chip the ball over the keeper, but Di Gregorio produced a spectacular save, stretching out to deny him.

According to the Daily Mail, via Calciomercato, Di Gregorio’s outstanding performance caught Guardiola’s attention. The City manager reportedly sees the 27-year-old as a great fit to strengthen Manchester City’s goalkeeping options.

Guardiola has relied heavily on Ederson for several seasons, but the Brazilian has been inconsistent this year. Stefan Ortega has stepped in, but many believe he lacks the quality required for a club of Manchester City’s stature.

As a result, the club is now looking to bring in a new goalkeeper, and Di Gregorio has emerged as a potential candidate.

The Italian goalkeeper rose to prominence during his four years at Monza. Last season, he was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper in Serie A, which paved the way for his move to Juventus in a deal worth approximately 20 million euros.
