So, it seems the day has come. According to numerous reports and media outlets, Man City have been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges that were initially put forward.
It's important to stress that at the time of writing, no official word has come from the Premier League. However, it's looking pretty certain that we've been found guilty.
What happens next? Well, there's talk of our titles being stripped from us, huge points deductions, huge fines and/or expulsion from the EPL. Any punishment handed out will probably take a while to decide and then impose, but it's likely to be major.
The Premier League are likely to release a statement very soon. When they do, we'll be sure to tell you everything you need to know about each charge and the likely impact they'll have on our future. Until then, these are just my feelings about the news reaching us today.
Whatever happens I, along with every other Blue, will support the club no matter what. Third tier of English football? Been there, done that, supported in our droves. And it will be nice to play Stockport County again.
In all seriousness, it's the fans who this will hurt the most. For years, our board, owners, powers-that-be, have strenuously denied any wrong-doing. They've promised to prove their innocence. I honestly believed it was a conspiracy against us.
Really, these rules were brought in to stop Man City joining the top table. Little old City, the team who everyone laughed at when we were relegated from the Premier League in 1996, the team who everyone laughed at when we were relegated to the third tier two years later, the team who everyone patronised, suddenly winning the lottery and could actually CHALLENGE FOR TROPHIES?!?! Well, the Premier League couldn't be having that could they?! They couldn't be upsetting the Uniteds, Liverpools and Arsenals of this world!
And that was my true belief. These rules were brought in to stop us upsetting the applecart. And essentially, the rules have worked - no other side can really now challenge regularly for major honors. The plan worked. Almost.
City got in there before these rules could really take effect. And got in there we did! Nothing will take 93:20 away from me. Nothing will take Rodri's UCL Final winner away from me. Nothing will take watching my team becoming the best in the world away from me.
Ultimately, though, whether we like or agree with these rules or not, they're the rules. And we've seemingly broken them. Our board have told us they've done nothing wrong. Our board have told us they'd prove their innocence.
Alongside celebrating EPL title after EPL title, Champions League, FA Cups, League Cups, Community Shields, fans have spent their time defending the club against media outlets and opposition fans. Our owners assured us we'd done nothing wrong. And we defended them. And it seems they've lied to us.
I really hope we can still prove our innocence. I really hope it's a conspiracy against us. But if it's all true, if we have broke the rules, if our owners have lied to us, that will hurt more than being stripped of any title.
