Manchester City return to Women's Super League action this upcoming weekend with an exciting clash against Liverpool.

After a successful week in Europe with Manchester City beating defending UEFA Champions League title winners 2-0 due to an incredible team performance and goals from Khadija Bunny Shaw and Naomi Layzell, the Cityzens now prepare for their fourth game of the Women's Super League season.

After playing three matchdays, Man City have come up with one draw (2-2 Arsenal) and two wins (2-0 West Ham, 1-0 Brighton) putting them on seven points and at the very top of the Women's Super League table - a promising start for the Sky Blues.

Now, they take on Liverpool, who they faced three times last season and each time we were treated to thrilling encounters between the two; Man City winning 4-1 and 5-1 in the League, while also getting a win over the Reds in the FA League Cup 4-3.

So, it will be safe to say that Manchester City will head over into this fixture as strong favourites but Liverpool are no strangers to springing surprises, the most memorable ones coming last season when they overcame the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Gareth Taylor press conference

The Man City boss started by mentioning the big win over the Catalan club a few days ago, "It can ignite us, that's what it can do. Because we're so busy in this early part of the season, game after game sometimes we do not get the opportunity to reconsiue what we've done."

"We've had a really positive start, game after game has been presented in front of us. It's not been an easy start in terms of the opposition we've played, but the performances the other night, I was so proud of it regardless of the result."

"To have five clean sheets in six games against solid opponents is really positive for us. I've always spoken a lot about what we can do in possession and our identity but the big shift for us this season is without the ball. I think it's going to help us a lot."
