Manchester City head into their next fixture which will be the biggest test of their season so far, as they meet Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Manchester will go into this crucial game against Liverpool on Sunday on a horrible run of form. They have five defeats on the bounce and recently gave up a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord.

After losing three Premier League matches in a row (2-1 Brighton, 2-1 Bournemouth and 4-0 Tottenham), Manchester City find themselves eight points behind first place. If they do once again fall to defeat in their next game, they will be officially 11 points away from leaders Liverpool.

While Man City are far from themselves right now, Liverpool are having the best possible start to the season and their new manager, Arne Slot, with not only being top of the Premier League and losing only one game in the process (Nottingham Forest 1-0), but they have 15/15 points in the Champions League and have qualified for the next round.

These troubling times have made a significant impact on their current season outlook, with being second in the premier league with eight points to overcome, out of the Carabao Cup, and also 17th in the UEFA Champions League with three matchdays to go.

While nothing is far from over by any means, for the Sky Blues to turn around their woes and bring a positive aspect to their 24/25 campaign, they need to start gaining results quickly.

Man City & Liverpool's last five meetings

  1. Liverpool 1-0 Man City (22/23, Premier League)
  2. Man City 3-2 Liverpool ( 22/23, Carabao Cup)
  3. Man City 4-1 Liverpool (22/23, Premier League)
  4. Man City 1-1 Liverpool (23/24, Premier League)
  5. Liverpool 1-1 Man City (23/24, Premier League)

In the last five results, Manchester City have won two, lost one and drawn two. A head-to-head record which looks slightly better in Man City's favour.

Pep Guardiola ahead of Premier League clash

"In the situation, we have it isn't realistic to think about bog targets. We think about one game, the good momentum and that will come back. Even in the situations we've been in before in November and December to win the title is unrealistic but again a big team who have lost one game, in good form, powerful in both boxes."

"It'll be difficult but there are a lot of games in a row, especially three in the premier league. Always I think about it April. Where we are now, it doesn't matter what happens on Sunday."

"It'll be difficult if we don't take a result but there are lots of games to play. All we can do and I've learned from my life is move forward in the good and bad moments, it's what you have to do."

"I've said many times in a long career, you live all the situations. Of course, I'm thinking what can I do to help the players? In the end, we lost five games, should've won the last one, that happens in football."

"It's the end of November so many months to play, we have to learn and learn and learn, succeeding is how many times you stand up when you fall."

"The results doesn't change anything but in three days after Liverpool we will play against Nottingham Forest, we have to prove it."

"We still need 11 or 12 games winning in a row to prove, now it's one game and won't change how we are as a team."
