Manchester City look to be aiming to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, with names such as Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush linked with a potential move.

Manchester City's squad depth has been put to the test in recent matches, with many players out due to injuries and their lack of options has highlighted their struggles.

According to Manchester Evening News, Omar Marmoush is one of the names that Manchester City have expressed interest in.

The Frankfurt striker has been making a big impact this season; making 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists. The Egyptian has been a vital figure in Frankfurts's season so far, where they are currently third in the Bundesliga and fifth in the Europa League.

Marmoush could be bought for around 50 million, and according to reports, Frankfurt are open for the player's departure. However, even if City were to sign the player, it hasn't been confirmed if they could attain him during January or if his arrival would be in the summer.

The Frankfurt director did state the stance on whether Omar will stay or leave is currently 50/50, "Our basic intention is to keep the squad together. Something extraordinary would have to happen for us to move away from this position."

This statement shows that ideally, the club will want Marmoush to stay within the squad, which doesn't come as a surprise. However, if Man City were to give them an offer that they liked the look of, then the 25-year-old could be exiting the German side.

While a lot of focus has been on this transfer possibility, the Cityzens have also shown interest in Lens' centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov. An upcoming 20-year-old with high potential, and Manchester City look to be his next destination.

Many outlets, including OneFootball, have said that talks between the player and the club are advancing, with a deal of over 30 million could bring Khusanov to the blue side of Manchester.

There is no doubt that City's defence has been far from ideal this season, and Pep Guardiola will be hoping to strengthen it by the end of the campaign, making the centre-back a desired player for the club.
