Manchester City's boxing day wouldn't have been what they were hoping for, as they drew 1-1 with Everton and were not able to claim three vital points in the Premier League.
Manchester City continue their bad streak of only one win in 13 matches, whilst losing nine and drawing three.
Man City started positively, as Bernardo Silva gave his side a 1-0 lead less than 15 minutes into the game. However, the lead didn't last long as Everton found the back of the net and made, it 1-1. City did have an opportunity to take the lead again after winning a penalty, but Erling Haaland was not able to convert the chance, and his attempt was saved by Jordan Pickford. Haaland did put away the rebound, but it didn't count due to offside.
The Cityzens situation in the Premier League seems to be getting worse game by game, and while one point was secured against the Merseyside club, City are still seventh on the table but now with 28 points.
City could go seven points away from the fourth spot if Arsenal are to beat Ipswich on Friday. Currently, on third, Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham on boxing day and are on 34 points, while Chelsea lost to Fulham and are on 35 points, and could slip down to third if the Gunners were to be victorious.
Man City, are on the same amount of points as Fulham and Aston Villa, who are currently on eighth and ninth, and one point behind Bournemouth and Newcastle.
To say that City are struggling is an understatement, their form is producing disappointing results and threatening the end of their season.
Manuel Akanji
"I don't think we deserved that result, no, I think we did a lot more in the game than Everton. We created a lot of chances, but unfortunately, we were only able to score one goal and then we conceded a goal, out basically nothing, but that's how football is."
"I think this was a game that we were able to score three, four goals, but the shots didn't want to go in. We need to believe until the last moment that we can win the match, but it wasn't possible today."
"The season is not finished, we need to focus game by game and the next game against Leicester City will not be easy as well now, in the shape we are in."
"We need to focus on the positives, we did a lot of things great, we defended well and we attacked well, but were not able to finish as well as we wanted to or we could have scored three or four goals."
