The UEFA Champions League had it's first legs of the playoff round featured.

The Champions League's next round has arrived, and fixtures resulted in clubs attempting to claim leads.

The league phase concluded with Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting and Manchester City within the top eight, meaning they have qualified for the last 16 without needing an additional tie.

Others, who were ninth to 24th, have had to go through an extra match in a quest to join their fellow opponents. Among the sides, Paris Saint-Germain, Atalanta, Newcastle, Real Madrid, and Juventus are aiming to remain in the competition.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, eight fixtures decided the first leg scorelines. While many were able to get the wins, some were left with a lot of work to do.

The fixtures included Galatasaray vs Juventus, Monaco vs Paris Saint-Germain, and Dortmund vs Atalanta as some of the standouts.

The return games will be on the 24th and 25th, and then it will be known which teams join the already booked-in sides.
