Manchester City suffered yet again another defeat on Wednesday night after a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the seventh matchday of the UEFA Champions League.

The penultimate matchday of the UCL League phase played out this week, and for both Man City and PSG, it was a must-win match due to their dangerous positions in the standings.

For Man City, the second half got off to the perfect start when Jack Grealish came off the bench to put the Sky Blues ahead in the 50th minute.

Only three minutes later, Man City found themselves 2-0 up after Erling Haaland found the back of the net.

It seemed like everything was going right for the Cityzens, however, not long after the second goal, Ousmane Dembele got PSG back into the match by making it 2-1.

Shortly after, Bradley Barcola slotted in the equaliser for his side, making the scoreline 2-2.

Despite finding themselves 2-0 down when the 45 minutes had begun, it was now Paris's turn to take the lead as a free-kick found Joao Neves who easily headed in the match-changing goal.

3-2 to PSG with only a few minutes left to the play, Goncalo Ramos took his chance to really cement the victory. And while there was a question of offside for a few minutes, the goal was given and PSG won the dramatic encounter 4-2.

After matchday seven, Manchester City find themselves in 25th place which is the elimination zone. Next week, the final matchday of the League phase sees Man City take on Club Brugge, who are currently ranked 20th, in an all-important fixture. To qualify for the playoffs, Man City need a victory, if they cannot achieve that, they will find themselves eliminated from the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola reacts to the loss.

"Am I angry? No. They were better. They had better intensity to win duels. We found our moments to score two goals and go 2-0."

"At 2-0 and 21, we could not play. To defend, you have to have the ball. They were better and we have to accept it. We have the last chance against Brugge and we will do everything there. If not, it's because we don't deserve it."

"The matches against Inter (0-0) and Feyenoord (3-3) have put us in this position. It's not about that we can't qualify, but after that, you have to recover players and do better."

"We could not make the process that we should. The connection with Bernardo and Kova was not possible or was not good. After we could not make the process and in terms of transitions, we could not cope with them. We have to defend with the ball and it's impossible to defend if you don't play."

Goal-scorer Jack Grealish talks about Club Brugge.

"We all know, it's a must-win match. We're lucky we don't need to rely on anyone else, it's down to us."

"Next week is like a final for us, we have to win. Since I've been here there have been so many moments when people have questioned us as a team and we've always come up."

"Hopefully we can do that next week and get through to the next round."
