There's always huge drama surrouding transfer deadline day and this year is no different. Man City were said to be close to agreeing a deal for Liverpool's Cody Gakpo but this now looks like it won't happen. A shame, really, Gakpo would've been a great replacement for Omar Marmoush. A player who can play left and right and also be an able deputy to Erling Haaland.
Now, though, reports are claiming that a deal has been agreed for Everton's Iliman Ndiaye. I'm a huge fan of Ndiaye - he's skillful, has a great passing range and can score screamers from anywhere. Ndiaye gives me Riyad Mahrez vibes. If he does sign and gets anywhere near the levels Mahrez did for us, he'd be one heck of a signing.
Does this mean Jack Grealish returns to the Toffees? It seems there's no swap deal in place, with a straight fee being paid to Everton. If this move does go through, though, surely it means Super Jack will be leaving the club by the end of the deadline.
It's looking more and more likely that Man City will finalise deals for two players by the deadline - one for Ndiaye and one for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez. Allan has signed in the last couple of days. A move for Gakpo could still be on, though doubtful if the Ndiaye move goes through.
Like him or loathe him (I'm the latter), Enzo Fernandez would offer some serious steel to our midfield. Fernandez, Anderson and Bouaddi as a midfield three? Wow, that would take some beating.
