Bernardo Silva has confirmed he will leave Manchester City when his contract expires, though he has not yet revealed his next destination.

We could see a different story if Manchester had the sun, warmth and dry streets. “If Manchester City was in Lisbon, I'd stay until I'm 40…”

The 31-year-old is expected to attract significant interest, with several top clubs likely to compete for a player of his quality and versatility.

The Portuguese star, who has been integral to City’s success, could depart on a high. He has played a key role in their domestic treble push, including a standout Man of the Match performance against Arsenal in the Premier League, along with a series of impressive displays throughout the campaign.

I have already tested who can replace Bernardo Silva at Man City but now we see where he would choose to go next.

Barcelona

Bernardo Silva has flirted with a move for the past couple of years, drawn by the appeal of Catalonia sun and the chance to play in La Liga for one of its giants. Pep Guardiola was the only stopping him going at the prime of his career.

The transfer would suit all parties. With no fee involved, the club would secure one of the game’s most technically gifted midfielders. capable of operating across central areas and elevating the overall quality of the squad.

He would slot seamlessly into the title-winning machine built under Hansi Flick, and his arrival could open the door for the club to move on Frenkie de Jong or Marc Casadó to generate funds in pursuit of an elite striker.

Strong national ties with Deco, combined with the opportunity to win a league title in Spain to add to his Ligue 1 success, make the move an especially compelling one.

Juventus

Juventus are building a new project with the aim of returning to the top and reasserting their dominance in Serie A. With Luciano Spalletti set to remain in Turin for the next two years, there’s a growing sense that the club is on an upward trajectory.

Reports suggest that Manchester City’s No. 20 is high on their priority list, and the player himself would be open to the move, with Jorge Mendes said to have already held talks with the club.

A short-term spell in Turin feels plausible, Silva in a Juventus shirt for a season or two, before eventually bringing his career full circle with a return to Benfica.

Benfica

If there’s ever a move that feels like a fairytale, it’s this one. Bernardo Silva came through Benfica’s academy but never truly had the chance to represent Os Encarnados with the prominence his talent deserved. Just a handful of league and cup appearances preceded his loan move and eventual transfer to AS Monaco.

A return to where it all began carries obvious appeal. The familiarity of Lisbon, both on and off the pitch, combined with the lifestyle he clearly values, makes the move feel like a natural fit at this stage of his career.

The only potential obstacle is managerial. If José Mourinho were in charge, it could complicate matters, as Silva doesn’t typically fit the profile of player Mourinho has built his systems around.

Fenerbahçe

If Silva is chasing the sun, Turkey is an appealing option. Istanbul’s giants, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, have started to attract high-profile players still in their prime, as part of a broader push to make Turkish clubs more competitive in Europe.

Fenerbahçe, in particular, feels like a natural fit. They are in greater need of a controlling playmaker, and Silva could be the missing piece to dictate tempo and unlock defences. The added presence of familiar faces, former teammates like Ederson and İlkay Gündoğan in the city, only strengthens the appeal, with those connections potentially helping convince him that Istanbul is the ideal place to wind down his career.
