Manchester City began their Premier League campaign on Saturday, where they were 4-0 winners over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester City's first Premier League match got off to the perfect start as they claimed three points thanks to a 4-0 triumph.

A comfortable game saw new signings Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders score their first Premier League goals for the Sky Blues, while Erling Haaland got himself a brace.

The 4-0 victory currently puts them at the top of the table, being the team with the superior goal difference. A total of six clubs attained three points in the opening match weekend, while six settled for draws and added one point to their names, making seven sides without any points going into the second match weekend.

For Manchester City, they will be thoroughly pleased with their result and performance, hoping that this will be a path they will remain on and work towards strengthening as they hope to take the Premier League trophy away from Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola reacts to first win & player performances

"(Pleased) with the result and first half. I liked many things."

"But for the first game, it's always a little bit how we will be the team. Many things were good. But we will see, it is just the first game, so there are many points to play for."

"The club always made good signings. I never found a player that is not good. If you are playing in the Premier League, it is because you are good."

"How you become better is how you connect with your teammates and the ideas. My job is to make the players connected, but all of them are really good."

"Ait-Nouri knows the Premier League, and Rayan Cherki is good, but Tijji gives us something that we have missed. The talent for Cherki is unbelievable, and in certain games we will need him."

"I'm really pleased for that."
