Ferran Soriano has sent a video message to all Manchester City staff after the Premier League confirmed it has found the club guilty of almost every charge brought against them. As Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News reports, Soriano states that these charges were brought because of a 'single false accusation' and reiterates that the club are the victims of a conspiracy theory.
Soriano continues with some pretty strong words:
""We will now be relentless in our work. We will focus on the independent appeal process and also all other legal avenues available to us in order to win the case, and we will take all necessary action to protect the club and seek compensation from any party that tries to damage it now, and in the future."Ferran Soriano
As we've written about, the findings of this investigation hasn't really made anything any clearer. In fact, quite the opposite. Yes, we've been found guilty, but Man City are still continuing to protest their innocence and look set to appeal. What happens next is anyone's guess really.
The club also released a statement on their official website, which states the following:
"Manchester City FC is both disappointed and surprised by the opinion of the Premier League Commission, that has been published today.Official Man City website
The Club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this case. The Club will therefore be relentless, and where necessary proactive, in any and all appropriate regulatory and legal forums.
The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements uncompleted. Manchester City FC will now pursue the appeal avenues open to it, on the basis that the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact, and is unsafe.
The Club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League Board and Executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence.
The Club is obviously restricted in what it can say further until all future proceedings are complete."
Fighting talk from Ferran Soriano. This could go on for years to come.
What the future holds, who knows? From a fans point of view, this has been hanging over us season after season. That looks set to continue for season after season to come.
