Norwegian striker Erling Haaland might make a move from Manchester City to Real Madrid during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to press reports.
Haaland is currently under contract with Manchester City until June 30, 2027, and reportedly has a release clause of €150 million that could allow him to leave. Various sources, including the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" and British network "Sky Sports," have suggested that Haaland is interested in the idea of joining Real Madrid.
The reports also suggest that this move could happen next summer, especially as Pep Guardiola's contract with Manchester City is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 football season.
Sky Sports further added that Manchester City officials are already considering Swedish striker Victor Gyokeres, who currently plays for Sporting Lisbon, as a potential replacement for Haaland if he leaves next summer.
Haaland's key stats at Manchester City
Haaland joined Manchester City in the summer of 2022, moving from Borussia Dortmund for €60 million, as per data from the global "Transfer Market" website.
Since his arrival, Haaland has become an integral part of Manchester City's lineup, scoring 103 goals and providing 14 assists in 110 matches for the club so far.
He has been the Premier League's top scorer for the past two seasons, netting 36 goals in the first season and 27 in the second, playing a crucial role in helping Manchester City win back-to-back league titles.
Haaland also played a vital role in Manchester City's first-ever Champions League triumph in the 2022-23 season.
In 2023, Haaland was awarded the "Best Player in Europe" title and finished second in the Ballon d'Or rankings for the best player in the world that year.
At present, Haaland's market value is estimated at €200 million, making him one of the most expensive players globally, alongside Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior.
