As Kevin De Bruyne's exit has been confirmed from Manchester City, the question arises whether the player himself wanted to leave or if this was a club decision.

Kevin De Bruyne will leave Manchester City at the end of the season. The story between the Belgian player and The Cityzens will be coming to an end. Kevin's wish was to stay in Manchester, but the club decided to part ways as they want to rejuvenate the squad. De Bruyne scored 153 goals and 260 assists meaning he is one of the biggest Man City players of all time.

The decision came from the board, especially from coach Pep Guardiola and the club's director, Txiki Begiristain. "It was not easy for me to tell him it won't continue," Guardiola told the media at his scheduled pre-match news conference before Sunday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

De Bruyne has taken the time to express his feelings and implied his intentions to stay as a sky blue. "Whether we like it or not, it's time to say goodbye," Kevin said via Instagram. De Bruyne's actual level is far from what we are usually used to seeing. On top of that, he has one of the biggest salaries in the Premier League, and an exit will allow Manchester City to have more economic freedom.

The future of Kevin De Bruyne is unknown but important sources mention the possibility of finishing his career in Saudi Arabia. Manchester City's owner Sheikh Mansour is from Arabia and that could facilitate the midfielder's decision to finish his career in Asia.

Kevin leaves a legacy in Manchester and he enters an exclusive legends list in which we can find players like David Silva or Sergio "Kun" Aguero. Guardiola has previously paid tribute to the Belgian and labels him as one of the greatest Premier League players of all time. Manchester City is in a transition, and a transition requires decisions and risk. Pep Guardiola has taken his but his legacy will remain untouchable.
