This weekend, Man City takes the short trip to face Leeds United in the Premier League. In the buildup to the match, Daniel Farke kept hammering home the same point about what it takes to beat Man City. He insists that Leeds need to 'go over the line' to beat Man City.

In his own words, Farke said "We need an excellent day to be successful. We know about our home form, and what we have done to Elland Road, but we also have to be realistic. We have to make sure we go over the line [of expectation] in our physical output, spirit and mentality."

Farke also said "Everyone will need to chip in. We will need our supporters to carry us so we need an atmosphere second to none".

Leeds vs Man City is bound to be yet another cagey affair

Farke is taking this match seriously, and it's pretty clear to see why. The last time Man City met Leeds United, it was a close and cagey affair only decided by a late Phil Foden goal. Two second-half goals from Leeds showed they were not down and out, even after going two goals down themselves.

You could say many things about Leeds, but one thing you could never doubt is their heart. They are very rarely fazed by the size of opposition, and Daniel Farke's mentality in this press conference is a glowing example of that.

As far as Man City are concerned, the goal is simple: win every single game. If they do that between now and the end of the season, which is certainly a possibility, they will mathematically win the Premier League. That likelihood would look very different if they drop any points to Leeds this weekend.

On the other side of the coin, Leeds will view every one of their upcoming fixtures as a must-win, even against the big dogs. If they want to remain in the Premier League, with Tottenham and Nottingham Forest breathing down their necks, it's pivotal that Daniel Farke and his men get it right.

Let's be real, while we know there is no assured result in the Premier League, Man City will probably win this game. It's not the result that Citizens are worried about, but more the fatigue which may come after the result. It's bound to be a cagey affair, facing Leeds always is, particularly with Daniel Farke's repeated messaging about turning it up a gear.
