Manchester City have been linked with a massive transfer signing of Italian giant Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Manchester City could be bringing in a brand new name, as the latest weeks of the transfer window have seen many shocks taking place.

One of the biggest surprises of the window has come as Gianluigi Donnarumma's departure from Paris Saint-Germain, despite having one of the best seasons of his career as he helped guide the French side to Champions League triumph.

Rumours broke out that Donnarumma wouldn't be remaining with the team, and last week, the news was announced by the goalkeeper himself.

Paris Saint-Germain have already filled his role, as they signed French and now-former LOSC Lille star, Lucas Chevalier. The young keeper has already featured for his new club, making an impact in the UEFA Super Cup, where a penalty shootout saw the European champions surpass Tottenham.

As Donnarumma looks for a new destination, two of the most prominent names to emerge in the race for his arrival are two rivals Manchester City and Manchester United.

While there isn't long left before the window comes to a close, the conclusion to the drama surrounding Donnarumma could be resolved in time. It has been said that talks are taking place, with Manchester City looking the stronger to attain the Italian number one.

Currently, there have been no further developments, just speculation over the last few days. However, with their current keeper Ederson potentially moving to Galatasaray, and talks over that ramping up, and now former second option Stefan Ortega Moreno also looking to be on his way out, their latest arrival, James Trafford, has already taken over the reins.

But Donnarumma would be the choice the sky blues would be pleased with, especially since Trafford might still be considered to be inexperienced for the big occasions just yet.

And considering Donnarumma is one of, if not the best, goalkeepers in current football, if the Cityzens can pull this move off, it will be quite the boost for the new season.

However, there is nothing too concrete just yet, but many will be intrigued to see where this situation leads.

As the countdown until the close of the window goes on, we look to see what will follow.
