Manchester City returned to the Women's Super League last weekend after their international duty came to an end and met Tottenham, who they beat 2-1 to claim three crucial points.
After a few weeks off due to the international break, Manchester City arrived into the month of March with a big fixture to kick off their hectic schedule as they met Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
Vivianne Miedema got City off the mark just 11 minutes into the match as she headed in Aoba Fujino's cross to make it 1-0.
Beth England brought Tottenham back into it and the two clubs ended the first half with a 1-1 draw.
Just two minutes before the 80th minute, Aoba Fujino's efforts resulted in an amazing goal to make it 2-1 to the Sky Blues and win the game.
An important win for Manchester City, who must continue to earn three points in order to finish the season within the top three.
The Cityzens now have 31 points but are still fourth with Arsenal two points ahead and rivals Manchester United five ahead. First-placed Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion keeps them ahead of second place with five points, while not a comfortable lead by any means, it is still one that Man United will see as a huge mountain to climb.
The end of the season will see a dramatic race for Manchester City as they must finish in the top three if they are to secure a European qualification.
Gareth Taylor reaction
"I have to give credit to the girls on how they adapted so quickly after being away for so long."
"Tottenham are direct but the girls stood up. We improved in the second half."
"Sometimes you have to win ugly and find a way to win and we certainly did that. I have a feeling the whole month is going to be like this."
"If winning ugly this month is the word then we'll have to do it."
"We're going into four competitions in one month. It's tough but we do have a plan. That plan during the game can go out of the window a little bit, but it's great we're playing games every three or four days, particularly on the back of the last international break."
