The UEFA Champions League is set to feature matchday eight, which concludes the first-ever League Phase and will confirm which clubs have made it through to the last 16, which will be in the play-offs and who has been eliminated from the competition.
The new Champions League format, which saw the group stage made up of eight groups of four turn into a league phase where all 36 teams are featured in one big table, is set to conclude this upcoming Wednesday, with all fixtures set to decide which 24 clubs will continue their UCL journey.
This will be a very special and busy matchday, as all 36 teams will be playing at the same time which means all 18 fixtures will kickoff along one another.
The decision to change how the last matchday is played out results in a more intense and exciting evening, as every goal, every minute and every change in the 90 minutes would determine the fate of every club. Safe to say this will be a dramatic night of football.
For Manchester City, their fixture is a must-win after their 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain last week. The Cityzens are currently in 25th place, which is the elimination spot; to secure a play-off ticket, they have to win their match.
