Manchester City met Nottingham Forest during the Premier League weekend in a crucial battle for the top four, which ended in a 1-0 victory for their opponents.
Manchester City went into the latest Premier League match week being fourth on the table, only one point and spot behind third-place Nottingham Forest.
The quest for the top four and European football has been heating up as the season leads to its' conclusion, with eight clubs having a chance of booking their places in the Champions League and the other European competitions.
For Man City, after their fall from the top of the Premier League after four seasons in a row of winning the title, they're at a point where they are fighting for the top four, so they can secure a return to the UCL next season. Anything less for the sky blues would be seen as a huge disappointment.
However, their defeat to Nottingham Forest puts a dent in their hopes and adds extra pressure in these final matches.
Nottingham are still third with now 51 points, Chelsea overtake Manchester City on fourth place going two points ahead, while Brighton and Hove Albion, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Fulham remain right behind Man City, threatening to get ahead at any given point if City aren't able to secure the all-important three points.
The Cityzens next fixture will be yet again another vital one, especially since Brighton are only one point behind on sixth place.
Pep Guardiola discusses City's run-up to the end of the season
"We have to win games and if we don't win enough games in a row to be secure, it will be a battle. We have 10 games left and we have to win a lot of games to qualify. It's as simple as that."
"To find a way, you have to play better. You have to find something. The situation is what it is, we have 10 games left starting next Saturday against Brighton, international break after and we will see what happens."
"Of course, if we qualify for the Champions League it will be a huge success. But you have to earn it and win games and we are able to do it sometimes in a row."
"Listen, I want to qualify for the Champions League - of course, we want to qualify. But the other teams who did not qualify last season have come back and they are there."
"But at the end, of course, we wake up in the morning and try to do a good season next season, we have to continue but at the end, we have to try."
"Sometimes in the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and other competitions, the circumstances and small details and many things make the difference."
"But in the Premier League. after 38 games, if we don't qualify it is because we were not good enough. But we still have 10 games."
