Manchester City are closing in on another Premier League title, now just five wins away from lifting the trophy.

But beyond this season, uncertainty looms. The club is still awaiting a final verdict on its 115 charges for alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules, an outcome that could significantly reshape its future.

With a decision expected soon, speculation is growing over a potential summer exodus. Bernardo Silva has confirmed his exit, and John Stones is already reported to be considering his future, and more departures could follow. Here are three players who we are predicting to seek a new challenge away from the Etihad.

Omar Marmoush

The Egyptian forward arrived at the Etihad as one of Europe’s most in-demand talents, having been in scintillating form with Eintracht Frankfurt.

He was always aware that a central role would be difficult to secure with Erling Haaland leading the line, but he has struggled to establish himself even in a supporting role. The unnatural position of the wings and behind the striker seem to be occupied by players showing their ability.

A return of just one goal and three assists in 17 appearances suggests Pep Guardiola may be open to letting him leave, particularly if a strong offer arrives.

His form has been inconsistent since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, and he may now seek a move where he can play a more central role. A switch within the Premier League remains possible, though a return to Germany or a move to Italy could also appeal.

Nathan Ake

Perhaps the least surprising name on this list, Nathan Aké has been linked with a move away from Manchester City across the last two transfer windows. Following a string of recent arrivals, the defense has become increasingly congested, leaving Hugo Viana and the recruitment team with the task of trimming the squad depth in that department."

Much of that speculation stems from his uncertain role in the squad. At left-back, he faces competition from Nico O'Reilly and Rayan Aït-Nouri, while at centre-back he sits behind Rúben Dias, Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guéhi in the pecking order. With Joško Gvardiol also expected to return, many believe Pep Guardiola already has his preferred centre-back pairing in mind, making Aké’s long-term future increasingly uncertain.

The current Dutch international will want to maintain his place in Ronald Koeman’s thoughts so a move away to get first-team football will be a priority, with potential moves to middle place Premier League teams, or going abroad.

Rodri

During the international break, Rodri sparked speculation by hinting at a possible move to Real Madrid, putting Manchester City on alert. A return to Spain could quickly gain momentum if the midfielder pushes for it during and after the World Cup, especially with Pep Guardiola consistently maintaining that he won’t stand in a player’s way if they wish to leave.

Whether City would seriously entertain offers from Real Madrid, or even FC Barcelona, for their Ballon d’Or winner remains uncertain. However, with the possibility of a points deduction hanging over the club, the circumstances may align for Rodri to make a long-considered move back to his homeland.

The presence of midfield talents like Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga at Real Madrid could soften the blow of a potential deal, but Manchester City fans would still be desperate to see Rodri remain at the Etihad next season.

I could have gone bolder with this list; there are always headline-grabbing possibilities, but it’s hard to seriously entertain a heartbreaking departure for Phil Foden or a fleeting stint involving Tijjani Reijnders.

Even so, the exit door at Manchester City feels more open than usual, with several players potentially counting their medals one last time before moving on.
