3 factors bring Rodri closer to joining Vinicius at Real Madrid
A press report suggests that Spanish midfielder Rodri (Rodrigo Hernandez) is a strong candidate for a potential move to Real Madrid in the near future, with three key factors making this transfer seem "logical."
Rodri, who plays for Manchester City and the Spain national team, recently won the 2024 Ballon d'Or as the best player in the world. However, he's currently recovering from a serious knee injury suffered at the start of the 2024-25 season.
Many Real Madrid fans believe their player, Vinicius Junior, deserved the Ballon d'Or instead of Rodri, but they still acknowledge that Rodri is likely "the best midfielder in the world at present."
According to the French website "Top Mercato," the recent retirement of German star Toni Kroos and Real Madrid’s failure to find a suitable replacement may drive the club to pursue Rodri. His previous experience in La Liga, where he played 97 matches for Villarreal and Atletico Madrid before moving to Manchester City in 2019, adds to his appeal.
Rodri’s contract with Manchester City runs until June 30, 2027. However, reports suggest that the club's management may consider allowing the 28-year-old midfielder to leave if a good offer comes in.
Rodri’s market value currently stands at €130 million, making him the eighth most valuable player in the world, alongside players like Federico Valverde, Jamal Musiala, and Florian Wirtz, according to estimates by "Transfer Market."
Throughout his time with Manchester City, Rodri has played 260 matches, contributing to 56 goals (26 goals and 30 assists). He has won 11 titles with the team, including 4 Premier League titles, 2 League Cup titles, 1 Champions League title, 1 European Super Cup, 1 Club World Cup, 1 FA Cup, and 1 Community Shield.
