Despite Manchester City facing a tough opponent over the weekend, they had a breeze of a game as they defeated Tottenham 7-0.

A week earlier, City had been triumphant in the Manchester derby, where they claimed a 3-1 result, and with defeats against Arsenal and Brighton taking place before the United game, this win against Spurs was even more vital.

The first half saw a hattrick for Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw take City into the break with a 3-0 lead, then Lauren Hemp and Jill Roord added their names onto the scoresheet in the next half, with Laura Coombs finding the back of the net twice.

An excellent game for the Cityzens as they now head into the international break.

Reactions

The Man City manager, Gareth Taylor gave his thoughts on his squad’s overall performance, “they all really important wins. It’s never nice to play the last game of the weekend; we knew the pressure was on us to go out and win.

We still have a lot of work to do, we made a good start to the season and played well in the games we lost against Arsenal and Brighton, which was frustrating, but the signs are good”

Taylor also spoke about City’s player of the match,

“I’m pleased for Bunny. Apart from the goals, her performance was good as well. She’s a big player for us, and that will have given her a lot of confidence tonight.”

Khadija Shaw also discussed the big victory and her own performance as she said,

“We wanted to be clinical and score as many goals as possible. That’s probably the quickest I’ve scored three goals. I just to go out there and work as hard as I can for the team because the important thing is to get the job done.”
