Ronaldo competes with Haaland, Mbappe & Messi for top award

After a period of indifference, Portuguese football star and captain of Al-Nassr Saudi Club, Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to the individual awards competition. His name is among the candidates for Globe Soccer‘s 2023 Best Player award.

Since 2010, the Dubai Sports Council has given the Globe Soccer Awards, which are held yearly in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. They have grown significantly in significance in the football world since then.

There are 36 players on the list of nominees for the Globe Soccer 2023 Best Player award, with Argentine Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the front of the pack.

Along with the well-known pair, the roster also includes Yassine Bounou, the goalie for Al-Hilal, and Karim Benzema, the star of Al-Ittihad Saudi Club.

While traditional names are not absent from the competition for the award, such as Kylian Mbappe, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, and the Norwegian Erling Haaland, the player for Manchester City in the English Premier League, along with his teammates from the treble-winning team: Kevin De Bruyne, Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Ruben Dias, and Ederson.

With six wins, the most recent being in 2019, Ronaldo holds the record for the most Globe Soccer Awards for Best Player in the World. He is still the only player to have received this distinction more than once.
