Manchester City have not only returned to Premier League football but also back to the top of the League table after a 2-1 win over Brighton & Albion Hove over the weekend, with first-half goals from Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

John Stones also started for Man City after being absent for months due to an injury. After the win, Stones spoke about his return and the team’s display,

” I tried my best. I really enjoyed it, and I’m really happy to be back. It has been difficult being injured; it takes a toll. I feel great; I’m happy to be back!”

“I thought we played incredibly well- especially in the first half. We knew in the second half they were going to come out and show their quality. I’m really pleased how we stuck in with the game- we were resilient and got the three points.

It’s been difficult; we didn’t want to come back and lose after losing three of the last four. We knew what was expected of us, and we came off the pitch with a win, which is vitally important.”

City fans will surely be glad to see the defender back in action for the club and also to see City get that all-important win, which has resulted in them topping the table.

Manchester City now shift their focus to Wednesday as they prepare for Champions League duty against Young Boys. City have gotten off to a winning start in their group, claiming two 3-1 wins thus far.
