Pep discusses Ballon d’Or nominees Haaland and Messi
By Hidayah Ali
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola return to Premier League action tomorrow afternoon as the international break comes to its end. During his press conference, Guardiola has spoken about the men’s team’s nomination for the upcoming Ballon d’Or.
Haaland, Alvarez, Bernardo, Rodri, De Bruyne, Dias, and Gvardiol are all shortlisted for the award, while Ederson is a nominee for the Yashin trophy.
“It’s nice that many City players will be there for the first time and will challenge for trophies. That makes us proud!”
For this year’s Ballon d’Or, the honour will most likely be awarded to Erling Haaland or Lionel Messi, and Pep has shared his thoughts on who will be the winner, ” I always said that the Ballon d’Or should be two sections, one for Messi and the after look for the other ones. Haaland should win, yes. We won the treble, and he scored 50 goals, but of course, the worst season of Messi is the best for the best!”
“They both deserve it. I want Erling, I would love it, but Argentina did win the World Cup.”
Safe to say, we are all excited to see who will win the award on Monday, 30th October.
On another note, Man City will meet Brighton & Albion Hove at 15:00 (UK) tomorrow.
Pep did confirm that the only unavailable player for Saturday will be Kevin De Bruyne and good news for fans that Rodri will be back.
Our prediction:
Man City 3-1 Brighton
