Manchester City women’s team met Bristol City on Sunday afternoon and displayed quite the performance as they claimed a huge 5-0 win, which resulted in them topping the WSL table.

It was a stellar display from multiple names, but it was Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Jill Roord who stood out the most as both forwards got themselves a brace, with a goal from Laia Aleixandri adding to the 5-0 win.

With the weekend coming to an end, Manchester City have gone to the top of the League table, with a total of seven points.

Gareth Taylor

Man City’s head manager spoke out on his team’s performance over Bristol City, ” I said recently that the performances we’ve had this season, including this one, is exactly my idea of football. I’ve been really impressed with the team; this is my idea on how the game should be played.”

” Sometimes we can’t play like that because the opposition will make it difficult for us, but I also think we look capable and have proved it. We just need to take it game by game; it’s about not getting too far ahead and not worrying too much about what happens next.”

Gareth then moved on to explain why City cannot afford to lose too many WSL games, ” It’s a tight league and not one where you can lose four or five and still be champions. Just concentrating on what you do is the most important thing. We can just take our business and know if we win the majority of our games, we’ll be right in there.”

Manchester City now move on to a game against Leicester City, on Saturday, the 21st October.
