Manchester City’s Mary Fowler has been selected as one of the candidates for this year’s Golden Girl award.
The nominees for this award, for both male and females, was officially announced yesterday, with Mary Fowler representing Man City’s name on the nomination list.
Here is the official list of potential winners:
Mary Fowler (Man City)
Salma Paralluelo (Barca)
Linda Caciedo (Real Madrid)
Chiara Dragoni (Barca)
Laurina Fazer (PSG)
Vicki Becho (Lyon)
Esmee Brugts (Barca)
Vicky Lopez (Barca)
Kathrine Moller Kuhl (Arsenal)
Mary Fowler joined Man City last during on a four-year contract and has made more than 20 appearances for them while scoring four goals.
She recently provided an assist for Khadija Shaw, which resulted in the Ballon d’Or nominee’s first goal of the season.
Fowler represented Australia during the Women’s World Cup a few months back, where not only did her country co-host the tournament, but made it all the way to the semi-finals.
During 2023, she has scored two major goals for Australia; the first coming in a 1-0 friendly win over France, and the other coming in the WWC group stage game against Canada, where her side won 4-0.
We all the talent the 20-year-old contains, and the amount of quality she can produce for City this season. It would be a huge privilege for Mary to win this achievement (though, even being nominated is an honour) and also for the club itself.
But, it will be a difficult one to win when you look at all the incredibly talented players included on the list.
But overall, a great accomplishment for Mary Fowler to be one of the players up for this prestigious award.
