A few days on from their 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the WSL, Manchester City face Everton in the League Cup group stage.

Man City have been drawn into a group containing Everton, Liverpool, and Leicester City; for automatic qualification to the next round, they must top the group or be one of the best out of three in the runners-up spot.

After their rather disappointing former game against current WSL holders Chelsea, which many could agree was an overall unfair game for both sides, but the heavily impacted decisions impacted City the most, which ultimately led to them just getting one point, Gareth Taylor will hope his side this fixture plays out rather differently.

During his press conference regarding Everton, head manager Gareth Taylor has spoken on his thoughts ahead of tonight.

” We have to play the game. I don’t think I’ll be telling the players to do anything amazingly different. I’ve been impressed with the players, that’s one thing I’ll say.

“This competition is important to us, we won it two seasons ago. It’s a tough group; you have to be flawless and win as many games as you possibly can. We’re clear on what we want to do this season in winning the WSL, but winning trophies; we’ll never get tired of that!”

Everton vs Manchester City is scheduled for 19:00 (UK) tonight.
